Built in Minnesota. Serving the Upper Midwest.

About Chris Westlund

The operator behind Minnesota Marketing.

Chris built Minnesota Marketing because most local businesses don't need a 12-person agency. They need someone who actually understands their world — and gets the modern systems handled.

The story

From the trenches of local business to building Minnesota Marketing.

Chris has spent years in and around local and rural businesses across Minnesota and the Upper Midwest — selling, marketing, operating, and watching the same problems play out at company after company:

"Owners doing everything. Marketing tools no one understands. Leads slipping through the cracks. Modern systems sitting on a 'should set that up' list for years. Reviews going unrequested. Customers slowly drifting to whichever competitor answered the phone first."

Minnesota Marketing exists because the answer isn't more software, more tactics, or a 12-person agency that takes six weeks to return an email. The answer is a small, focused company that installs the modern essentials, supports them properly, and then helps grow what's working — without making the business owner feel like an idiot for not being on top of it already.

The philosophy

Why local & rural

Because the people who keep small towns running shouldn't get left behind.

The same modern systems that big-city, well-funded businesses have — AI receptionists, instant lead response, automated follow-up, real CRM — should be available to a 6-person garage door shop in Brainerd or a 12-person plumbing & heating outfit in Fargo.

Minnesota Marketing is specifically built for owner-led businesses in markets where the owner knows half the customers by name and where word-of-mouth still moves the needle. The systems are configured for how those businesses actually work — not how a Silicon Valley product team imagined they should work.

More than one person

Built so the company doesn't depend on Chris being awake.

A common worry with owner-operator firms: "What happens when the owner is busy, sick, on vacation, or burned out?" That's a fair concern, and we've structured the company specifically to answer it.

A real support team

Day-to-day support is run by our team — trained on every system we install. Chris stays in the loop on strategy and anything that needs operator-level judgment.

Documented delivery

Every Essentials install follows the same proven 14-day playbook. No tribal knowledge. No "only Chris knows how to do that."

Capped client load

Growth Partner is intentionally limited. We'd rather have 6 great partnerships than 30 mediocre ones.
